Update - Neighborhood Fire Prevention Project

Due to the closure on East Mountain Drive at the Cold Springs crossing, this year’s Neighborhood Fire Prevention Project chipping boundaries were restructured. The East Mountain Drive properties on the west side of the Cold Springs Creek Crossing (1-1000 East Mountain Drive) will be included in the June 22nd week. This week also includes the properties residing on West Mountain Drive, Coyote, and Banana roads.

The decision to split the area was made after the information card was mailed out to residents, but our webpage https://www.montecitofire.com/neighborhood-fire-prevention-project is updated and the map accurately depicts the planned chipping schedule.

Through the first four weeks of the program, there have been 116 participants and a total of 102 tons of vegetation removed. We appreciate the great participation in this year’s program. Our combined efforts are creating more fire resilient properties and increasing the safety for all Montecito residents.

For more information about the Neighborhood Fire Prevention Project please contact our Wildland Fire Specialists: Maeve Juarez or Nic Elmquist at (805) 969-7762 or email [email protected]

The Fire Department would also like to encourage residents to provide feedback on the Neighborhood Fire Prevention Program by completing the short online survey (https://www.montecitofire.com/customer-satisfaction-survey)
