Air Quality Hazard Issued for Santa Barbara County

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. The Santa Barbara County Public Health Department and the Santa Barbara County Air Pollution Control District issued an Air Quality Warning for Santa Barbara County. Smoke and ash from the Thomas Fire burning in Ventura County is affecting local air quality, and conditions may continue over the next several days.

Red Flag Warning for Montecito

2017 Season of Hope

The 6th annual Season of Hope food and toy drive is underway. KSBY has teamed up once again with local non-profit organizations, fire departments and several businesses for the community-wide event. The Montecito Fire Protection District is now accepting donations of non-perishable foods and NEW, UNWRAPPED toys at either of our two fire stations.

CRITICAL WEATHER PREDICTED SATURDAY THROUGH TUESDAY

The National Weather Service has issued a critical weather event for the Santa Barbara south coast, including Montecito from Saturday through Tuesday evening. The current wind will continue and increase through Tuesday. The highest temperatures are anticipated Monday, October 23, and Tuesday, October 24. Temperatures will be near or in excess of 100 degrees, with lows in the 70s to low 80s. An elevated sense of awareness is imperative during extreme weather situations.

Predicted gusty north winds peaking at 35 to 45 miles per hour, and very low humidity ranging from 515 percent bring critical fire weather conditions to the area through to Saturday at 10:00 AM. If fire ignition occurs, the potential for rapid-fire spread and extreme fire behavior is very likely, causing imminent threat to life and property.
