Roadmap to Recovery Workshop June 26, 2018 5:30-7:30 P.M.
This Roadmap to Recovery™ workshop will be held next Tuesday, June 26, 5:30-7:30pm at Montecito Union School, 385 San Ysidro Rd, 93108.
The workshop is being organized by United Policyholders (https://www.uphelp.org/), a non-profit consumer organization helping disaster survivors for over 25 years. United Policyholders has recently hosted a series of Thomas Fire workshops in Ventura and is very involved in Santa Rosa’s wildfire disaster recovery process. Given their good work in other areas, we requested that they come to our area to support those who have been impacted by recent disasters.
The Roadmap to Recovery™ workshop will provide strategies on how to navigate the complexities of coverage and the claims process, and how to advocate for yourself and organize with others to come together with a stronger and more effective collective voice.
Difficulty dealing with insurance companies is one of the issues we hear about most from residents who contact the Montecito Center. Not all of the reports about insurance companies are bad, but many are. We at the County of Santa Barbara lack regulatory authority over insurance companies, but we have been trying to help. We are very thankful that United Policyholders is supporting our community in this way. The workshop will build off the good work that other local leaders have been doing in this area including State Senator Hannah-Beth Jackson, Assemblymember Monique Limon, local volunteer J’Amy Brown, and others.
Again, here are the basic details for the event:
