Evacuation Go-Bags
The Montecito Fire Department is helping community members prepare for emergencies by providing complimentary evacuation “go-bags.”
Building on ongoing efforts to help residents prepare for emergencies, Montecito Fire carefully selected a functional “red bag,” similar to what firefighters use to carry gear when deploying to wildfire incidents. The bags are equipped with basic emergency supplies to help people sustain the initial period following an evacuation event.
The bags contain:
2400 calorie emergency food bar
---
12-hour glow stick
Emergency whistle
Emergency survival blanket
Pocket tissue pack
Biohazard waste bags
Nylon rope
Heavy-duty work gloves
Safety goggles
N95 mask
Waterproof poncho
Cleansing towelettes
Basic first aid kit
Duct tape
The go-bag is intended as a starting point. Residents should supplement it with essential items specific to their household. Additional items may include clothing, footwear, medications, personal electronics, chargers, copies of important documents, pet supplies, water and any extra emergency supplies the resident may need.
