A Tsunami Advisory has been issued for the CA Coast, including the Santa Barbara County South Coast following a volcanic eruption on the Tonga Islands at 3:25 a.m. and a subsequent earthquake offshore.

The expected arrival time of the tsunami wave in our area is approximately 7:45 a.m. with waves of 1-3 feet. High tide is currently occurring and should be dropping soon; the waves may create some additional heights, rip currents, and strong tidal shifts.

Please avoid beaches & waterways today. This threat may continue for several hours after the initial wave. Widespread inundation is NOT expected.
