Possible Public Safety Power Shutoff for parts of Montecito Oct. 11-12, 2023

POSSIBLE PUBLIC SAFETY POWER SHUTOFF: Southern California Edison is considering a Public Safety Power Shutoff that would affect up to 1,900 customers in Santa Barbara County, including Montecito. 

WHERE: Eastern area of the City of Santa Barbara into Montecito, ending near Highway 192 and San Ysidro Road. Please see the map of the proposed outage area. 

WHEN: If SCE moves forward with the PSPS, power may be turned off starting at 3 p.m. Wednesday 10/11 through 3 a.m. Thursday 10/12. 

WHY: The National Weather Service Los Angeles/Oxnard is forecasting strong winds in the Montecito foothills, up to 60 mph gusts, coupled with warm temperatures and low humidities. Gusty winds have the potential to cause downed power lines which could spark a wildfire.

WHAT TO DO: Prepare your household to potentially be without power for up to 12 hours. SCE will provide a Community Resource Center at the Franklin Neighborhood Center on Wednesday from 2-10 p.m. at 1136 E. Montecito Street, Santa Barbara, 93103.
