Retirement Pension - Miscellaneous:
CalPERS 3% at 60 – First Level (Classic) Members

"Classic" employee pays 12% cost share toward employer contribution; employee contribution is paid by employer up to 8%.

Additional Benefits - All Full Time Employees
Health Care: The District will contribute to the employee's health care premium, for the employee and eligible dependents, in an amount not to exceed $3,000 per month effective March 1, 2024, $3,075 effective January 1, 2025 and $3,170 effective January 1, 2026. The District and Staff agree to an opener on this topic only if premium rates exceed projections.
Dental Plan: District covers entire cost for the employee and eligible dependents.
Vision Service Plan: District covers entire cost for the employee and eligible dependents.
Life Insurance: All personnel under 65 - District provides $100,000 on member’s life; $100,000 accidental death/dismemberment and $1,000 for member’s dependents.
All personnel over 65 - District provides $65,000 on member’s life; $65,000 accidental death/dismemberment and $1,000 for member’s dependents.
All personnel over 70 - District provides $50,000 on member’s life; $50,000 accidental death/dismemberment and $1,000 for member’s dependents.
Deferred Compensation: The District will make contributions to the District-sponsored Deferred Compensation 457 Plan for all full-time employees after one year of continuous employment at the following amounts:
CalPERS Classic members: $600 per month, paid semi-monthly. CalPERS PEPRA members: $700 per month, paid semi-monthly.
Uniform Allowance: $1,500 per year, for full-time employees.
Sick Leave: 12 hours of sick leave earned per month.
Holiday Time: Safety and Dispatchers earn 12 hours per month. Office personnel receive 12 paid holidays.

Safety and Dispatchers:
1-5 years of service – 12 hours per month
6-10 years of service – 16 hours per month
11-15 years of service – 20 hours per month
16+ years of service – 22 hours per month
Battalion Chief (Safety):
16+ years of service – 24 hours per month
Chief Officers assigned to a 40 hour work week: 16.66 hours per month
40 hour personnel:
1-3 years of service – 6.66 hours per month
4-7 years of service – 10 hours per month
8-11 years of service – 13.33 hours per month
12+ years of service – 16.66 hours per month

Longevity Incentives: Special compensation pay is calculated using the employee’s base rate.

Dispatch Cadre Members: Special compensation pay of 5% of top step of the Firefighter classification base salary. Current incentive rate is $591.25 per month.
EMT/AED Certification Incentive: 5.35% Special compensation pay is calculated using the employee’s base rate and longevity incentive.
FLSA Earnings: Safety employees working a 24-hour shift schedule receive FLSA compensation equal to 5 hours of straight time pay every 24-day period. Dispatchers working a 24-hour shift schedule receive FLSA compensation calculated weekly for hours worked in excess of a 40-hour workweek.
