The official start of summer is June 20th, and backyard chefs everywhere are dusting off their grills, eager to spring into the long-awaited barbeque season. The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) recommends that grillers pay particular attention to safety, especially in June and July, when home fires involving grilling incidents occur most often.

“Hands Only” CPR Training

Emergency response agencies throughout the world will be participating. Join us here in Santa Barbara County as we attempt to train as many members of our community in “Hands Only” CPR as possible!

Trail Rescue, McMenemy Trail

At approximately 11:05 a.m., The Montecito Fire Protection District and American Medical Response responded to the report of an injured person in the vicinity of La Casa de Maria. On further investigation it was determined that the injured person was located on a nearby trail, therefore Santa Barbara Sheriff Search and Rescue were requested to assist.

Wind Event Causes Major Power Outage

An extreme wind event caused a major power outage in Montecito, resulting in multiple fire department responses throughout the night. Wind gusts surpassing 60 miles per hour separated power lines from power poles, triggering transformer fires, and extreme power surges inside residences.
