Montecito, CA - March 22, 2016, 2:07 PM - The Montecito Fire Protection District and Santa Barbara Sheriff Search and Rescue responded to a report of two stranded hikers on the side of a rock, located at the base of Tangerine Falls on the West Fork of the Cold Springs Trail.

Due to the reported location of the hikers, Montecito Firefighters and Paramedics, along with Search and Rescue responded up the trail from the Cold Springs Trailhead located on Mountain Dr.

Firefighters reached the base of Tangerine Falls at 2:56 PM, and were able to verbally make contact with the reporting party, who was in verbal contact with the hikers but not visually.  One hiker was discovered on the face of the cliff, approximately 100 feet up from the base, unable to move. Firefighters and Search and Rescue personnel set up a rope rescue system to safely remove the hiker from the cliff face.  The hiker was extricated from the cliff face at 4:20 PM, and walked back down to the base of the falls.
