NOTICE OF INTENT AND HEARING TO ADOPT A NEGATIVE DECLARATION

For the Acquisition of Real Property The Montecito Fire Protection District (MFPD) has prepared an Initial Study/Draft Negative Declaration that identifies the potential environmental impacts associated with acquisition of a vacant parcel of land located at 1510 San Leandro Lane in Montecito, CA.

Proposed Project:

Notice of Intent and Hearing to Adopt a Negative Declaration

The Montecito Fire Protection District proposes acquiring a vacant, privately owned, .85 acre (37,026 square feet) parcel for the purpose of potential future development of a new fire station. While the Standards of Coverage Study and Risk Assessment prepared by the District identified the need to locate a new fire station in the southern area of the District’s boundaries, no specific information is available at this time with respect to future structural development or activities on the site. Accordingly, the project evaluated in the IS/ND is limited to site acquisition. Any potential effects of future development and operational activities will be fully analyzed in a separate CEQA document once a fire station development plan is prepared. No specific timeline has been established by the District for the potential construction of a new fire station on this parcel.

Public Participation:

A public hearing on the Initial Study/Negative Declaration is scheduled before the MFPD Board of Directors on Monday, January 25, 2016 beginning at 2:00 p.m. at the MFPD office at 595 San Ysidro Road, Santa Barbara, California. The public is encouraged to attend to discuss potential project impacts outlined in the IS/ND and provide input on the analysis provided in the document. Reference copies of the IS/ND are available at the Montecito Library at 1469 East Valley Road, and at the MFPD office.

The required 30-day public review period for the IS/ND will close Thursday, January 14, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. Anyone interested in commenting on the project should attend the public hearing and/or submit written comments to the MFPD, 595 San Ysidro Road, Santa Barbara CA 93108, Attention: Chip Hickman, Fire Chief, by 5:00 p.m., on January 12, 2016. Comments can also be submitted via email to: [email protected].
