Structure Fire at 767 Picacho Lane

The Montecito Fire Protection District is currently on scene of a structure fire reported at 767 Picacho Lane. The original call was received at 9:57 p.m.

Upon arrival, Montecito Fire personnel found a 50x50 mulch pile burning. With wind gusts in the area of up to 68 miles per hour, the fire had spread to nearby vegetation and extended to the single family residence. A second alarm was ordered at 10:05 p.m.

Aggressive actions from fire personnel on scene were able to prevent the fire from spreading to the interior of the residence, and the fire was knocked down at 10:37 p.m.

There were 6 engines, 1 rescue, and several command vehicles on scene. Agencies on scene included: Montecito Fire Protection District, Santa Barbara City Fire Department, and Carpinteria-Summerland Fire District. Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department and California Highway Patrol assisted with traffic control.

The fire cause is under investigation.
