MONTECITO, CA – The Montecito Fire Department will host a community meeting regarding wildfire preparedness July 7, 2022 at 6 p.m. in Page Hall on the Westmont College campus.

The community is encouraged to attend this meeting to review the Ready! Set! Go! guide and discuss how to implement your wildfire action plan. Montecito Fire’s Wildland Specialists will discuss the current fire weather outlook and preparedness actions residents can take to harden their homes such as creating defensible space.

Representatives of the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office and Santa Barbara County Office of Emergency Management will also present critical information about emergency protective actions and the emergency alert and notification systems.

The findings and recommendations from Montecito Fire’s recent evacuation study are currently in the review phase and will be shared with the community at a future date. The study examined our community’s complex evacuation challenges, and its findings offer opportunities to improve our systems for the safety of our community. Upon completion of a comprehensive review of the study’s findings and adoption by our Board of Directors, we will present the results to the community.

We look forward to engaging with our community members on July 7 as we all work together to be prepared for wildfire.   Please join us for the
