A Thomas Fire and 1/9 Debris Flow Recovery & Rebuilding Community meeting will take place on May 1.

The community is invited to hear presentations from liaisons representing the U.S. Forest Service Burn Area Emergency Response (BAER) Team and the CALFIRE Watershed Emergency Response Team (WERT) on watershed impacts resulting from the Thomas Fire. The County and partner agencies will use their expert findings, in conjunction with other resources, to plan for potential future rain driven events that may be dangerous due to the post-fire conditions of local watersheds.

Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about FEMA’s process for developing new flood hazard maps due to be released next month and how they inform the County’s Planning and Development land use rebuilding process, as well as information about national flood insurance. A FEMA representative will be present to answer questions.
