Crews made significant progress yesterday and secured the containment line at the western flank of the Rey Fire and Horse Canyon, giving firefighters a secure anchor point to work from.

he Montecito Fire Protection District has a vacancy on its Board of Directors. Pursuant to Government Code section 1780, the Board intends to fill this vacancy by appointment of a qualified applicant to serve as a Director until the next general District election in November 2016. Grilling Safety
June and July are peak months for summer grilling fires. The official start of summer is June 20th, and backyard chefs everywhere are dusting off their grills, eager to spring into the long-awaited barbeque season. The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) recommends that grillers pay particular attention to safety, especially in June and July, when home fires involving grilling incidents occur most often.

“Hands Only” CPR Training
As a part of the world wide “CPR Day” event, local Emergency Medical Service agencies will offer free “hands only” CPR training for members of our community on Wednesday, May 18 at multiple locations throughout the County. Emergency response agencies throughout the world will be participating. Join us here in Santa Barbara County as we attempt to train as many members of our community in “Hands Only” CPR as possible!
