Division Chief James Langhorne has been with the Fire District for twenty years.

For the past twelve years he has served as the Fire Marshal, leading the fire prevention efforts of the District.

Chief Langhorne is licensed by the State of California as a Fire Protection Engineer after having completed a B.S. Mechanical Engineering degree at UCSB and an A.S. Fire Technology degree from Allan Hancock College.

He is certified by the California State Fire Marshal as both a Chief Officer and a Fire Investigator II.

Chief Langhorne presently serves on the NFPA Wildland Fire Management Section Executive Board and as Vice-Chairman of the IBC Fire Safety Technical Subcommittee.

Within the local community he serves as President of the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parent Guild and as a member of the City of Santa Barbara Building & Fire Code Board of Appeals.

In his spare time he enjoys being led from one thing to the next by his family, wife Pam and young daughters Katie and Maggie.
