MERRAG!  (pronounced Mirage) is a network of trained volunteers who work and live in the Montecito area. Members are prepared to respond to a community disaster during the critical first 72 hours following an event. Since 1987, the mutual “self-help” organization has been serving Montecito’s 13,000 residents with the guidance and support of the Montecito Fire, Water and Sanitary Districts.

A Public Workshop was held on May 27, 2008 at 6:00 pm. to discuss the results and review  the recommendations of the Draft Station 3 Site Identification Study. 

The next Public Workshop is tentatively scheduled for August 18,2008 at 6:00 pm.

What makes a Sundowner wind event different than a Santa Ana wind event? I contacted Ryan Kittell of the National Weather Service earlier this year, and this is what he had to say:
