Hazardous Materials Spill 1200 Block of Channel Drive

MONTECITO, CA 12/5/2016, – The Montecito Fire Protection District responded to a reported chemical spill at the Four Seasons Biltmore at 11:33 a.m.  

Upon arrival, Montecito Fire personnel found 30 gallons of “Oxonia Active” leaking from a 300- gallon container.  The spill occurred behind the hotel, in the loading dock. Firefighters are making entry in order to stop the slowly progressive spill. 

There are over 20 firefighters on scene. The agencies on scene include: Montecito Fire Protection District, Santa Barbara City Fire Department, Carpinteria-Summerland Fire District, California Highway Patrol and American Medical Response. 

Two civilians sustained minor injuries from the initial exposure: one injury involved chemicals exposure to the hands, the other sustained injury from inhalation. Both were transported to a local hospital.
