Structure Fire - 1901 East Valley Road

On September 25, 2015, at 1:32 p.m., the Montecito Fire Protection District responded to a structure fire at 1901 East Valley Rd.   The fire was reported by Valley Club maintenance personnel.

Upon arrival, Montecito Fire personnel found black smoke coming from a single story guest cottage. The fire originated in the basement.  The fire was knocked down at 2:20 p.m.  A housekeeper was in the cottage at the time the fire started, was alerted by the smoke detector, and safely exited the building without injury.

There are 4 engines, 1 truck company, 1 urban search and rescue vehicle, 1 squad, 1 ambulance, and several command vehicles on scene.  There are over 20 firefighters on scene, no injuries reported.   Agencies on scene include: Montecito Fire Protection District, Santa Barbara City Fire Department, Carpinteria-Summerland Fire District, American Medical Response.

 The fire cause is under investigation.
