MONTECITO, Ca. July 8, 2013 - Four off duty Firefighters and one retiree of the Montecito Fire Protection District will be joining hundreds of other agencies and firefighters attending the Granite Mountain Hot Shot Memorial Service in Prescott Arizona. In addition, one of our off duty Dispatchers has responded with several other Dispatchers from across the state of California to provide assistance in the Prescott and Yarnell Communications Centers so that their Dispatchers may attend the services as well.

The service will be held Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at 11:00 am at Tim's Toyota Center, located at 3201 N. Main Street, Prescott Valley, AZ 86314. Due to the large number of attendees expected, there will also be large screen "Jumbotron" monitors outside of the venue for outdoor viewing of the event.

The Granite Mountain Hotshot Crew lost their lives Sunday, June 30th, while battling the 2,000-acre Yarnell Hill fire that was started by lightning on June 28th.

Sean Misner 26, one of the Granite Mountain crewmembers who lost their lives, was the nephew of Montecito Fire Division Chief Terry McElwee, and grandson of the late Montecito Fire Chief, Herb McElwee. A memorial service for Sean is scheduled to be held at Santa Ynez High School on July 15th at 7:00 pm.
