Draft & Final Environmental Impact Reports for Station 3 Site Acquisition and Construction

SCH Number: 2011031094

This Environmental Impact Report (EIR) evaluates the proposal by the Montecito Fire Protection District (MFPD) to acquire a 2.55-acre site and to construct the new MFPD Fire Station 3 in the unincorporated community of Montecito in the County of Santa Barbara, California. The proposed project would include development of a main fire station building and two support structures on a newly created 2.55-acre parcel.

After the public release of the Draft EIR for the proposed project, the engineering review of the grading and drainage plan for Station 3 revealed that export of 8,000 cy excavated soils from the project site would be necessary.

Previously in the Draft EIR it was stated that all excavated soils would be balanced onsite, with no soil export required. Although preliminary analysis indicated that this change would not result in a new significant impact under CEQA, MFPD determined that recirculation was warranted to provide the public an additional chance to comment.
