Prior to her employment at Montecito Fire Protection District in 1998, Jackie worked as a Lifeguard / Park Aide Supervisor for the California State Parks, as well as a Financial Aid Officer for several Beauty Colleges. In 1985, Jackie began her career a fire dispatcher at Ventura County Fire Department, becoming a Supervisor in 1989. While employed at Ventura County Fire, Jackie received Dispatcher of the Year in 1990, and a Governor’s Accommodation for Heroism for her participation on the 1994 Calabasas Fire.
As Communications Coordinator, Jackie is responsible for managing, and overseeing, Dispatch personnel and all radio communications and Computer Aided Dispatch System administrator for South Coast Dispatch which provides unified dispatch services for Montecito FPD and Carpinteria FPD. In addition to overseeing Dispatch, she is also responsible for the Public Education, Car Seat Safety and CPR programs. She is also a counselor for the Jr. Fire Setter Intervention program, and an instructor for CAL-EDA, the California Emergency Dispatch Association.
Within the Incident Command System at fire emergencies, Jackie is qualified as Intel Specialist III, Initial Attack Dispatcher, Aircraft Dispatcher, Expanded Dispatch Support Dispatcher, Expanded Dispatch Supervisor (T), Public Information Officer (T), Ordering Manager (T), and Training Specialist (T).
